As a travel enthusiast and frequent visitor to San Juan, I know what it takes to have an unforgettable trip. San Juan is a beautiful city that offers endless opportunities for adventure, relaxation, and exploration. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of the best must-do activities to ensure that your trip is a memorable one. From walking tours to distillery visits, beach activities to rainforest experiences, San Juan truly has something for everyone. Let’s dive in and discover all that this vibrant city has to offer.

Old San Juan Walking Tour

San Juan is a breathtaking city that boasts of historic charm and rich cultural heritage. One of the best ways to experience the city’s beauty is by taking the Old San Juan walking tour. I have personally taken the tour, and I can attest that it’s worth every penny.

During the tour, you get to explore the narrow streets and colorful houses that date back to the 16th century. The tour guide provides interesting facts about the city’s history and culture, making it an enriching experience. As we walked, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beautiful architecture and the vibrant murals that adorned the walls.

The highlight of the tour for me was visiting the impressive forts- Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristobal. These are some of the most iconic landmarks in San Juan, and the history behind them is fascinating. The views from the forts are stunning, and it’s an excellent opportunity to take memorable photos.

Taking the Old San Juan walking tour is also an excellent way to socialize and meet new people. I made some friends during the tour, and we ended up exploring the city together. If you’re visiting San Juan for the first time, I highly recommend taking this tour. It’s a fantastic way to experience the city’s beauty, history, and culture.

Bacardi Distillery Tour

As soon as I heard about the Bacardi Distillery Tour in San Juan, I knew I had to add it to my list of must-do activities. I had always enjoyed a good cocktail, but I wanted to learn more about the process and history behind one of the world’s most famous rum brands.

The tour began with a short video presentation, which gave some background on the Bacardi family and the company’s history. We then made our way through the distillery, learning about the various stages of rum production and the different types of Bacardi rum.

One of the highlights of the tour was the opportunity to sample some of the Bacardi products. We were given small sips of different rums, and the guide explained the distinct flavors and aromas of each one. I particularly enjoyed the smoothness of the Bacardi 8 Años, which had been aged for eight years in oak barrels.

Another interesting aspect of the tour was the Bacardi family’s commitment to sustainability. The distillery has implemented various initiatives to reduce their impact on the environment, such as using renewable energy sources and recycling water. It was inspiring to see a large company taking responsibility for their environmental impact.

Overall, the Bacardi Distillery Tour was a fascinating experience that gave me a new appreciation for rum and its history. It’s definitely a must-do activity for anyone visiting San Juan.

Beach Activities

San Juan is known for its pristine beaches, and I’ve had the opportunity to explore almost all of them. My personal favorite is Isla Verde Beach, which has soft white sand and crystal clear waters. I’ve spent hours lounging on the beach and soaking up the sun, but there are also plenty of water sports activities for those who crave adventure. Parasailing and jet skiing are popular options, and I’ve even tried my hand at surfing.

For those who prefer a more relaxing beach experience, Condado Beach is a great option. It’s quieter than Isla Verde and has a peaceful atmosphere. I’ve enjoyed taking long walks along the shore and watching the sunset. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, making it a great place to grab a bite to eat.

If you’re looking for something truly unique, I highly recommend visiting La Monserrate Beach. It’s a black sand beach located near the town of Luquillo, and the views are absolutely stunning. The contrast of the black sand against the turquoise water is something you won’t find anywhere else.

No matter which beach you choose to visit, I recommend bringing sunscreen and plenty of water. The sun can be intense, especially during the summer months, so it’s important to stay hydrated and protected.
